The technique known as UV-LIGA, is used to manufacture micro-components and is inspired by microelectronic technologies. It combines the processes of photolithography and electroforming, is highly accessible in terms of production costs and is easily and rapidly implemented. Therefore, this technique is favoured over traditional methods such as electro-erosion or stamping. Not only is UV-LIGA ideal for rapid prototyping and medium size manufacturing, it is also capable of achieving high levels of precision (micrometric precision) and the surface qualities of a polished mirror.
